I go into the train station last week and ask for two returns to London from Norwich for this weekend. The woman at the till picks some trains (without giving me any other options) and then, with her finger on the 'take AP's money' button she goes "oh, you do know there are engenerring works don't you?" I say "errr..." and she's pressed the button.

I get home and I think it's all fine but then my dad has a huge go at me because, with all the different trains and busses (it's usually one long train through) I wouldn't get home til midnight if I left at half-eight when my tickets said.

So he drags me to the train station (half an hour away from where we live) to demand they change them, even though they are non-refundable to find that the ticket office closes at seven at night and he goes to the customer service building where they tell him that they don't have the power to change tickets or issue new tickets and say that I should have known all the changes because apparently there is a poster somewhere in the whole station saying that there are works going ahead.

This is despite the fact that the original woman has booked my trains/busses at half-eight on time-specific tickets when there aren't any trains or busses that even leave London at half-eight on either the Saturday or the Sunday!

So now, despite paying £44 on thses tickets I have to get two singles for the Saturday night and the Sunday night so that I can get home which will come to around £60 for those two tickets. Luckily my dad said he'd pay for those ones and he isn't mad anymore when he saw the ineptitude of the train people lol.
