Was I the only one going when the new warden said that Michael would be spending the rest of his life behind bars? I'd thought a few decades maybe but not, well, forever!

Yeah I thought that, since the show began I've been wondering about different sentances. For instance when Linc hears about Lj supposedly killing his mum and stepdad he says "If he gets tried as an adult he might as well sit in my lap on the chair. This is only a double homocide and yet T-Bag only gets a life sentence for 6x rape and 1st degree murder, not the death penalty! What the hell!

The sentences are a bit daft, cos Bellick's lawyer said he would get the death penalty if he pleaded not guilty but 25 years if he pleaded guilty. And like you said bigdan, T-bag's done worse and just get's life imprisonment.

Is it not something to do with the state that the crimes were commited in? Didn't T-Bag rape those students somewhere else? Different states have different laws and some don't have the death penalty. I guess it all depends on where they were tried - then they were moved to Fox River for some reason or other. I dunno :\

Yeah T-bag commited his crimes in Alabama, but then escaped then he got shipped to Fox river, but I'm not sure about the rest.

Well T-Bag's crimes were all commited in Alabama, LJ and Michael were in Illanois (I think) and Lincoln was in New York.
S72 said about T-Bag being moved to Fox River so that he wouldn't start his Purity gang up again (can't remember which thread though - I think it was the 'what is he playing at' one.)

T-bag did always tend to just go for black people but I think that was down to him being a member of the supremacist gang, Alliance for Purity. He was sent to an out of state prison as they were fearful of him re-establishing power in Alliance for Purity so sent him to Fox River, and as there was no gang there, T-bag formed an Alliance for Purity gang while in there, therefore leading one of the most powerful gangs in Fox River.
It was in that thread but i've put it here too so you don't need to go looking for it!!!

The state thing is a good point actually as Bellick commited his crime in Kansas so I guess that's where he got tried, and i guess he got moved to Fox River cos it's the nearest maximum security prison and to be near his beloved Mother lol.

Yeah he wanted to be near his mum, but also cos he thought he'd get an easy ride cos he knew the guards, unfortunately for him the warden's tougher than Pope. I wonder how he'll cope!!!

Something I didn't understand was Why In Hell they were taking Michael back to Fox River.
Take him to a prison he doesn't know how to escape out of for peat's sake!

Well I'd guess he'd spend the rest of his days in the SHU so unless he can fit through the tiny little letter box type thing he's outta luck!

But it'd still be more sensible to send him to another prison
