Which machine do you use? Plea

Hi all,

I'm so fed up with finding the right sewing machine and getting conflicting information from different websites and my local sewing machine shop - please help me!

I bought a Brother industrial sewing machine recommended by my local sewing machine shop in order to sew soft furnishings such as cushions and curtains, thin upholstery fabric and cotton bags. I am not an experienced sewer and I found it extremely hard to sew with an industrial. It's way too fast, has only on stitch, is oily, comes only with basic instructions, changing the bobbin is a nightmare etc.

I now would like to exchange it with a domestic machine, that has more stitch variety, speed control and is over all easier to handle etc. I had a look on my local machine shop's website, which explained that Brother XL series is suitable for soft furnishing and denims see here. However, when I called the shop, they told me its not!!!!

Could people please let me know which machine you use? My spending limit is £250. Is there anything out there for me at all?
