I need your opinion!! I am a Hair Dresser considering Booth Rental.?
Big decisions don't really settle with me well and I am very "on the fence" with my newest business opportunity. So i am looking for valid opinions, For those who don't know in the beauty industry there are two kinds of jobs, employee/employer or booth rental. Booth rental is basically like owning your own small business. Instead of your employer taking care of the taxes, insurance, etc. the booth renter is responsible. The only roll a salon owner plays in the equation is, they provide the space. Period.
Now my situation is this, I worked for over a year in a chain salon where they take advantage of you and pay you minimum wage plus tips. but everything was provided for you. and the pay checks were garenteed. Now I have the opportunity to start over in a very nice salon and spa, The rent is 100 a week to have the space. But nothing is provided, I'm responsible for the way i run my business the way i market myself, all of my supplies and equipment and insurance. But there is a freedom and unlimited potential. However NOTHING is guaranteed.
