}{ Is it ok to use a car once in a while ?

I am an NRI and visit India once in a year. I want to purchase a car so that I can use my own vehicle to move around when I am in India. Can anyone please give me your valuable suggestion regarding whether its ok to keep the car unused when I am away ? Will there be any problem with the engine ? Please note, I have never owned a car. I do not know anything technical about cars.
