I've been wondering this for a while but if I had to pick any of the character's as the 'main character' it would definatly be Michael. It's true that without Lincoln there wouldn't have been a premise but he could have been given the chair part-way through season one and Michael would still have the same amount of pressure from the rest of the inmates that were in on the plan. And season two could have functioned entirely well without Lincoln (although I suppose that Michael wasn't needed to make it move along with how many side-line stories there were.)
Anyhows, I'm bringing this up because it always surprised me that Dom got first-billing. Probably because he was a bigger star (having already had the lead in John Doe) but going purely by character status - I'd have put Wentworth up there.
So - whose show is it really? Michael's show? Or Lincoln's?

Michael, without a shadow of a doubt. I've always been surprised about Dom being billed first too because the focus is on Michael so much; he's the one that has all the links with everybody, connecting everything together and such. He's the one with the big central set-piece (well, tattoo). He's just THE main character. If Linc was to die or leave or whatever it would disrupt the showobviously, but they'd maybe be able to sustain it for however many episodes remained. But if Michael died.....it just wouldn't function right if you ask me.

I say Michael too, Michael is really the whole point of the show. Lincoln may be the reason for Michael being in there, but without Michael then there would be no escape. Michael is definitely the leading man!!

Michael's show , because it centres around his plans. Linc wasn't a key feature at the start of S1 and it was only half way through S2 that Linc started thinking for himself.

It's that same debate again..... But for me to Michael is the main character too like some have already said Linc only started to think for himself halfway through season 2.

Michael is definatly the main character because intially it was about how he had planned to get his brother of death row and he still makes the desions and without him (or his tattoo) they would have no plan!
