So... Bellick; it'd be hard to claim that he was a nice happy chappy but I was wondering - was he worse when he was in prison as a CO or outside of prison as a civilian and/or Mahone's lapdog?
Sure - he never tortured anyone in prison like he did to T-Bag and he never (allegedly) kidnapped a pregnant woman and left her stranded for a couple of weeks but who can forget poor Marilyn?
Opinions?

I think he seemed more evil IN prison, possibly because y'know...he was an authority figure, a guy in uniform who was being all cold and calcualted, manipulative. He acted like a con did. I still wince at when he stood on Michael's foot knowing about his toes! Can't remember what he did to Marilyn though. Maybe you could enlighten me? Did he kill her or something because Westmoreland didn't own up to knowing about who killed...Bob was it? That guard? :s

Yeah - Westmoreland said he couldn't risk telling Bellick who killed Bob so he killed Marilyn and left her on his bed for him.

poor Marilyn. Yes Bellick was defiitely more evil inside! I mean I think if he had to, if he was pushed far enough he'd torture someone as extensively as he tortured T-Bag on the outside if he knew he'd get away with it.

Well he wasn't against handing Tweener over to Avocado I suppose - and you have to be pretty damn bad to do that!

I have my doubts about Bellick killing Westmoreland's cat. I don't want to believe it but I have this nagging feeling Michael killed the cat. If you remember Westmoreland wasn't keen to help Michael with his plan but as soon as the cat died Westmoreland was ready to help. Marilyn was the only thing keeping Westmoreland in Fox River. When he was refused visiting rights to see his dying daughter, that was the final push he needed to escape. Killing Marilyn gave Westmoreland the insentive to start the fire in the guards room and plant evidence to frame Bellick. Westmoreland was getting back at Bellick really but also helping Michael get Abruzzi's PI team into that room to dig the hole. There is a dark side to Michael and looking back I think the death of Marilyn is part of that.

Hmm I never thought of it that way - I just remember the smirk that Bellick gave to him.

I refuse to believe it was Michael! I mean he has a mean streak but...ehh I dunno. I'll have to wait til I see the ep again.

I wouldn't have thought Michael would have killed Westmoreland's cat. I do think it definitely was Bellick who did it, and plus Westmoreland didn't join the escape in the episode his cat died, he just burned down the break room for them. He only joined the escape when he found out he couldn't visit his daughter in hospital. Anyway, back to Bellick, I think he was more evil in season 1, cos he controlled everyone and everything and he could get away with anything. I mean, torturing T-bag and locking up Maricruz was evil but he definitely did worse things in season 1. Although I preferred him more in season 1. He just seemed a bit more tolerable, which is odd as he was worse in season 1!!!
