I suspect the cap popping open is a red herring and not related to the strange gauge readings,start with the simple things first like;check the vent/breather is not blocked or restricted in any way,then check the connection for the instruments/gauges,it's a rubber sleeved multi-pin connector on the back of the instruments and is released by squeezing the sprung clip,make sure the connectors are clean and apply a little petroleum jelly (put some on the fuel cap latch & receiver while you're at it). ************************ Villas Greece| Villa Greece
